About the Role
Astir IT Solutions is seeking a highly experienced Hadoop Architect for an exciting opportunity in Omaha, Nebraska. This is an on-site position that requires extensive expertise in the Hadoop ecosystem, including HDFS, Hive, Spark, and related tools. The Hadoop Architect will lead the architecture and management of the Hadoop ecosystem and work on cloud-based data analytics solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in on-prem Hadoop environments and cloud migration, along with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage the Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, Hive, Spark, HBase, YARN, MapReduce).
- Architect and manage cloud-based big data solutions, including Azure, Databricks, and Snowflake.
- Lead the lift-and-shift of Hadoop workloads to the cloud, ensuring seamless migration.
- Mentor and guide junior developers through code reviews and best practices to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Apply agile development methodology to the project lifecycle.
- Work with cross-functional teams to drive efficient project execution and delivery with minimal defects.
- Ensure all architectural and technical decisions align with best practices and business requirements.
- Maintain high standards for data processing, storage, and retrieval systems.
Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of experience with the Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, Hive, Spark, YARN, MapReduce).
- Strong experience with cloud-based big data solutions (Azure, Databricks, Snowflake).
- Proven expertise in Hadoop ecosystem architecture and management.
- Hands-on experience with automated data pipelines and ETL tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on optimizing system performance.
- Experience with version control systems, such as Git.
- Proficient in code reviews, mentoring, and driving high-quality software practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

- Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
- Knowledge of other cloud services and platforms.
- Experience working in highly regulated environments.
- Familiarity with data analytics tools such as Tableau.
